Now in its fourth generation, the Audi A6 is an executive car made by the German automaker Audi AG. Manufactured in Neckarsulm, Germany…it is available in both saloon and wagon configurations…with the latter being branded and marketed by Audi as the Avant. Either front-wheel drive or Torsen-based four-wheel drive have been used in all generations of the A6…and is well known as their “quattro system”.
Here is a collection of 2016 Audi A6 reviews from several of the most credible independent automobile research & review sites.
The 2016 Audi A6 takes the brand’s theory of incremental improvement and refinement and applies it yet again. The result is a car that’s simply better in most of the ways that matter—and the Audi A6 was already a very good car. Small visual updates give cues to the mechanical and technological updates found elsewhere. And the front and rear ends, slight changes in the shape of the Singleframe grille and details of the bumpers and trim mark the A6 and S6 as well as S line vehicles; a new LED headlight design is also visible at the nose. At the rear, new trapezoidal tailpipes are found on A6 models. New interior colors like Flint gray and Cedar brown are available, while the S6 gets optional Arras red leather and carbon fiber inserts with red thread accents.
The refreshed 2016 Audi A6 sedan earned the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, following modifications to improve small overlap crash protection.
The test replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collies with another vehicle or an object such as a tree or a utility pole.
Supercharged Siblings Are Less Thirsty But Still Quick
As we reported in our First Drive of the Euro-spec A6, Audi tweaked the 3.0-liter, supercharged V-6 with revised cylinder heads, chain drivers, and heat management systems. And thanks to a new electromagnetic clutch, the supercharger can now be deactivated when it’s not needed. As a result, the gains in fuel economy are fairly significant. Both cars are now EPA-rated at 20/30/24 mpg city/highway/combined compared to 18/27/22 mpg for 2015 A6 (18/28/21 for the A7).

The Good – With its Quattro all-wheel-drive, well-tuned suspension and supercharged 3-liter engine, the 2016 Audi A6 handles well and accelerates quickly. A 4G data connection supports integrated online destination search and Google Earth imagery, and Audi finally implements USB ports for audio device connectivity.
The Bad – Minor criticisms only, but the head-up display could show more explicit turn information and the infotainment system would benefit from well-known third-party apps.
The Bottom Line – The 2016 Audi A6 is an extraordinarily well-mannered car, comfortable for the everyday commute and capable on country roads, with a full course of connected cabin technology putting useful driving and location information at your fingertips.
